Dentures
Dentures
are a great way to replace multiple missing teeth as well as a very
cost effective way to replace a single tooth. With current advances
in technologies there are many options a patient has for getting a
denture that fits well and looks great. One major advancement in
technology is the new TCS dentures. These are a nylon based
material that is flexible when heated and is virtually unbreakable.
This material has helped to reduce the need for unsightly metal
clasps that can really hinder a smile. Below are some cases of
standard dentures as well as the new TCS dentures.
Case #4
- Loose and Worn Old Complete Upper Denture
This
patients old denture still looked ok, but was getting pretty loose.
As tissues change under dentures due to lack of bone stimulation
that teeth provide, dentures come loose over time and require
relining or replacing. In this case we opted for a new denture as
that allowed us to improve the aesthetics of the front teeth by
increasing their length to produce a more youthful, fuller
smile.
Case #3 - New TCS
Partial
This patient did not
like to look of her current denture with its metal clasps and
yellow teeth. To improve her smile we made a new TCS denture as
well as did some teeth whitening. We also changed the length of her
front teeth as well to decrease the spacing between her top and
bottom teeth. Although in these photos the new front teeth look too
long, her nature smile covers the top portions of the denture teeth
making them look an appropriate length (hopefully I'll remember to
take that photo one of these days and add it on here).
Case #2 - Single Tooth
Replacement
Missing a front tooth
can make for a very unsightly smile. Although there are better
options to replace a single tooth that provide better chewing
ability, dentures provide a very cost effective way to improve
one's smile.
Case #1 - This is to
demonstrate the difference between a conventional and TCS partial
denture. In some cases TCS dentures will be done similar to the
conventional denture in the top left photo where there will be a
metal framework and the teeth and clasp areas all done with the TCS
material. In other cases the entire framework is made with the TCS
material.
