The Team

The staff at Schau Dental are dedicated to serving you. They work hard to provide a happy and relaxed atmosphere, while provided the best care they can. Our team includes a receptionist, hygienist, and a dental assistant. And for your added piece of mind, all our staff are CPR certified. 

Receptionist:

Laura has been at the office for over 20 years and looks to be there for another 20.  In addition to the numerous reception duties Laura also helps out in the back when needed as she is a trained assistant. These qualifications provide her with the added insight and skill to help you with most of your questions. She will work hard to help you with your insurance benefits, schedule your appointments to meet your needs and fit your busy lifestyle, and help you any other way she can. So if you have any questions, feel free to ask her. She will likely know the answer, and in the event that she does not, she will know who to direct you to.

Hygienist: 

Sylvie is our certified hygienist, and graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2000. She worked with Dr. Schau for 3 years at his previous office and joined his team here at Schau Dental in the summer of 2007. She will be looking after the health of your gums as you come in for your regular visits to ensure your teeth stay nice and strong and healthy. She endeavors to stay up to date with current information and techniques to provide you with the best of care. She will work hard to educate you and provide you with the tools and skills you require to maintain your optimum oral health. Due to the intimate relationship between your teeth, gums, and overall health, Dr. Schau and Sylvie will work together to provide you with a customized recall program that meets your specific oral health needs.

Sylvie is also in charge of monitoring our x-ray equipment.  The equipment is continually monitored to ensure it is performing within the recommended parameters as to avoid any health and safety concerns for our patients and dental team.

Assistant:

Christel is a certified Level II assistant with added training in orthodontics. She has worked with Dr. Schau for a year at his previous office and is happy to have joined his team here at Schau Dental. With multiple years of experience she knows a lot about the treatment you will be receiving at the office. Feel free to test her knowledge as she loves to teach (and talk). She will do her best to keep you informed as to the treatment you will receive, while keeping a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Christel is also in charge of our infection control procedures. She makes sure we are up to date and meet or exceed the current standards set out by the Manitoba Dental Association. So if you have any questions or concerns about infection control at our office, feel free to talk to Christel or Dr. Schau.

The Others:

From time to time you will notice a new person in the office.  As part of our focus on education we have teamed up with some of the local schools to help train their students. These students will primarily be students doing their practical work experience for the dental assisting program. In other cases it may be a hygiene or dental student who is job shadowing. At no time will either the hygiene or dental student be providing your treatment, as their practical experience is obtained at the University.
